A truly splendid tour and one which I've recommended to all my friends. Can't wait to do another one. Thanks so much.
Despite living in Brighton for the last 30+ years doing this tour really opened my eyes to all the little independent restaurants. Really worth the money even if you think you know Brighton.
The tour was amazing value. We explored parts of Brighton I've never noticed before, and met some fantastic people and their produce along the way. I cannot rate this tour highly enough.
A must do if you're a foodie in Brighton! We organised a private tour for 6 of us and Brighton Food Tours specially organised it around my sister's food preferences. It was really wonderful!

Covid 19 Adaptations

We naturally want to keep our customers and guides as safe as possible on our tours and we have been through the "Good To Go" certification system to help us do so. We ask our customers to follow these guidelines:

1) Please do not attend the tour if you have any COVID symptoms - we will happily transfer your booking for you. Guides reserve the right to refuse your attendance if you have any COVID type symptoms.

2) Please bring and wear your own mask.

3) We will work hard to maintain social distancing - please follow the directions of your guide and do not be offended if we ask you to make more space for each other.

4) You will be offered hand sanitiser at regular intervals. Please feel free to bring or use your own.If you have any questions about our full risk assessment or wish to discuss any particular needs you may have please contact us and we will be happy to discuss them.

How much are the tours?

Each of our tours differ in price – please see the Tour info for more details. Sorry – no discounts for students, seniors or Brighton residents.

How long are the tours?

Generally our tours last approx. 3 hours but sometimes may run over if our foodies are having too much fun! Please use the 'more info' links above for info on specific tours. Bespoke, private and corporate tours can be tailored to the specific timetables of the groups.

I can’t make the available dates, will you put on extra tours?

We are always happy to offer private tours outside of the designated dates/times as detailed on our Tours page for a minimum of 8 people. Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange one.

What is included in the tour cost?

All food and drink tastings + exclusive discounts for some Brighton Food Tours participating establishments + your own BFT guide(s).

How many people are on the tour?

We’re not into big impersonal groups – plus it would be tricky for our lovely vendors to accommodate them – so we usually prefer an intimate gathering of no more than 10 foodies. If you have a larger group and require a private tour we can split your group into smaller teams and arrange a route where you meet up at different points and join each other at the final meeting point.

How much food will there be?

We visit several different foodie hotspots on our tours with bite-size tasters at most places. The samples are not meal replacements, however many of our punters tell us they feel nicely full after our tours (sometimes even only half-way around!).

Do you cater for particular dietary requirements or food allergies/intolerances?

Please let us know of any particular requirements when booking. In most places we can easily cater for vegetarians, vegans and pregnant women if given advance notice. If you have specific allergies we can check with our vendors regarding nuts or other allergens in their products, but we can’t guarantee that foods will not have come into contact with allergens so please do exercise your judgement accordingly.

Do you offer a range of different tours?

Yes! We regularly run our signature, tried-and-tested V.I.B (Very Independent Brighton) Tour that has proved to be extremely popular with both residents and visitors to Brighton. We also run a variety of ‘Special Tours’ throughout the year and have lots of other plans in the pipeline. Keep an eye on our Tours page for up-to-date info on all tours we’re currently running. If you’re looking for a private and/or bespoke tour, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Absolutely. Food tour gift vouchers are a great gift for your foodie friends & family. Valid for 12 months, a Brighton Food Tours gift card can be instantly emailed or printed with a personalised message. Just visit our Gift Cards page to purchase.

What do you do in case of bad weather?

Our tours go ahead come rain or shine so be sure to come prepared for all weather eventualities. Umbrellas are pretty redundant in Brighton (it can get rather gusty!) so if it’s wet we recommend waterproof coats with hoods etc. On very rare occasions we may decide to cancel due to extreme weather conditions, and we will always cancel if an official amber weather warning is in place. See our terms and conditions for more information on what happens in this eventuality.

How far do you walk on the tour?

Generally our tours cover some distance (between 1-3 miles)but it’s broken up into multiple stops and we walk at a leisurely pace.

Is there anywhere to sit?

A few of our stops have seating, but you’re not guaranteed a seat. You can expect to be standing or walking for the whole tour.

Are there opportunities for toilet stops?

Some vendors have toilet facilities and others do not. However, there are public toilets on our tour routes if you need them.

Are the tours appropriate for kids?

Our tours are not suitable for children under 12 year olds and have been designed with adults in mind. Please let us know when booking if your group includes children.

Do we need to bring anything?

Just bring yourself, in a pair of comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. You may also like to bring a bottle of water with you, a bag for any purchases along the way and your smartphone for any en-route photo and social media action. (P.S Don’t forget to tag us – @BTNFoodTours)

Are the tours accessible for wheelchair users or other mobility issues?

Let us know your requirements when making your booking enquiry and we’ll do our best to ensure the tour is suitable

Any advice on parking?

Parking in Brighton can be expensive and some of the central car parks charge far more than they should, so here are our recommendations on where to park:

-Trafalgar Street Car Park (North Laine, close to station): approx £10 for 6 hours.
-The Lanes Car Park (very central, seafront): approx £20 for 9 hour.
-Regency Square Car Park (towards Hove, close to i360): approx £12 for 9 hours.
-Churchill Square Car Park (very central, shopping centre): approx £15 for 6 hours

Also, if you have a Smartphone, check out JustPark which has an excellent app for finding the cheapest places to park.

Please note that our tour can sometimes go over 3 hours so please do allow plenty of extra time when planning your car parking.

We're Cat & Angela and we started Brighton Food Tours in 2016 to celebrate our city's community of independent food & drink producers & vendors.

Brighton is so much more than the pier & pebble beach -it's creative, inclusive, innovative, and eclectic. But it's the city's fiercely independent spirit that we're most proud of.

When you're here there's no need to visit global coffee chains, faceless restaurant groups or generic fast food outlets. Our indie food & drink hotspots offer an abundance of foodie treats that outstrip them in quality, taste & most importantly, heart.

We want to share these places - and the people and stories behind them - with everyone.

Whether you’re a visitor or resident, we’ll take you on a food & drink adventure to discover the taste of independent Brighton.

Cat and Angela enjoying some Belgian fries and beer.
1.
We only feature independent vendors/producers
2.
We visit places we genuinely love & spend our own hard-earned cash in
3.
We don't charge vendors commission. We make money from ticket sales and that's enough for us
4.
We try to work with others who share our values - that includes vendors, our guides, collaborators and events organiser partners

Our guides at Brighton Food Tours come from a range of backgrounds but all have one thing in common - a love of Brighton's independent spirit and thriving food scene.

We have an ever-expanding team who are all regularly given 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor for their hosting skills.

We're very proud of our troop who all hold our Brighton Food Tour values close to their hearts and are unfailingly engaging, hospitable and often go that extra mile to give our customers the best possible tour experience.

If you'd like to join the team, do get in touch and let us know why you'd make a great BFT guide!
